2. Kalaya
Family-owned and operated for over 20 years, focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients

There seems to be a lot of hype about this place, but unfortunately, my experience did not live up to it. The shaw muang dumpling, priced at $18, was a blue, flower-shaped dumpling that was disappointingly mushy and tasted artificial. The yum nam khao tod salad, which cost $20, featured crispy rice salad with pork sausage, but it failed to impress. The gai pad med mamung, a chicken and cashew stirfry with bell peppers priced at $29.00, also did not meet expectations. The goong phao, whole grilled prawns with rice, was the most expensive item on the bill at $65.00, but it too was a letdown.
Despite the lackluster food, Kalaya offers a unique and exceptional dining experience. The restaurant has a stunning atmosphere with beautiful artwork, a skylight, and comfortable booths. The service is outstanding, with attentive staff who are happy to guide customers through the menu and make recommendations. While the food was a disappointment, the ambiance and service make Kalaya a place that is still worth visiting.

The evening was enjoyable, and we appreciated the opportunity to expand our wine knowledge.
The venue primarily offers bar seating, which may not be ideal for all customers. Additionally, the menu of appetizers is limited in choice. Despite these minor drawbacks, the quality of the wine and the knowledgeable staff made for an enjoyable experience.
