The city of Philadelphia is famous for its cheesesteaks and pizza, and Angelo's certainly lives up to its reputation. Recently, I tried their Sixth Man Pizza, a generous offer from Angelo's that supports Philadelphia Youth Basketball. 2. Villa di Roma
Family-owned restaurant since 1963, homemade pasta and sauces

After arriving at the restaurant, I waited for 25 minutes before being acknowledged by the bartender. I had hoped to be seated at a table, but none of the staff asked me for my preference. Surprisingly, despite the availability of tables in the right-hand dining area, I was not offered a seat there.
The bartender was the only friendly and attentive staff member I interacted with. Regrettably, the lack of attention from the other staff and the long wait led to a disappointing dining experience. It's unfortunate because the food was excellent. However, due to the poor service, I have no intention of returning to the restaurant.

5. Mawn
Family-owned restaurant with unique atmosphere

Upon arriving at the restaurant right at 11 am on Saturday, we were fortunate to be the first customers of the day. The waitstaff was friendly, and we ordered a variety of dishes, including a whole fish, fried soft shell shrimp, chicken soup, a melon and Asian pear salad, funnel cake, and rice pudding. The whole fish was a standout dish, and I've been trying to find "ginger buds" to recreate the flavor in my own cooking.
The food at this Philadelphia restaurant is unique and unpretentious, with spice levels that were expertly balanced. This attention to detail sets it apart from other restaurants, creating a memorable dining experience. We tried six dishes, and each one was exceptional, making it one of the top 10 restaurants in the city. The restaurant's commitment to simple, high-quality food is a refreshing change from the many mediocre farm-to-table establishments that have popped up in recent years.
