Best of 10 shops for birthday cupcakes in Upper East Side NYC

Where: 1652 Second Avenue @86th street. All the way on the Upper East Side, but it's worth the trip, especially when you're like me and come from Brooklyn. This place is famous for a few things, but my personal favorites: the cupcakes (my choice is chocolate and peanut butter), the blueberry cheesecake, and if you're a lover of rich chocolate, the Brooklyn Blackout cake is to die for. . Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything you order. Another place with a line out the door, but it moves quickly so don't be too put off. Of the three items I mentioned, the cupcakes, cheesecake, and blackout cake, I know many who claim they are the best in town, but I'll let you decide for yourself. All I have to say is that I'm happy he's in the UES; otherwise you would be in serious trouble and would be a few sizes too big. Tip: I love spending the day going to this bakery and then going to the Met (or vice versa!)

Try places on the Upper East Side. The one on Broadway on the UWS is the leading bakery, but now people on the Upper East Side can enjoy a dairy- and gluten-free bakery. By the way, Bakery is an excellent option for people with celiac disease or those who do not consume dairy or gluten. However, not everything is vegan here, although it is 100% gluten-free. Few bakeries cater to the gluten-free public and even fewer to vegans or gluten-free people. They only have 1 or 2 items that are considered vegan. So be careful. Blueberry pie and coffee cake are my favorites! They have a wide variety, but it's also one of the only places you can get gluten-free challah in New York. By the way, Bakery makes delicious gluten-free and dairy-free treats for everyone to enjoy! Their all-inclusive selection includes everything from brownies and cookies to birthday cakes and cupcakes. Magnolia Bakery makes a good cupcake. Yes, there are about a million locations now and it's kind of a tourist trap, but Magnolia didn't become famous for serving dry, flavorless pastries. Their classic vanilla cupcakes taste like dipping a stick of butter into a bowl of sugar—in a good way—and the red velvet and chocolate flavors are textbook examples of this form. The original location is on Bleeker Street in the West Village, and yes, it's kind of charming in that "I love New York" way. Their beloved banana pudding is also worth it.

I tried the classic chocolate chip pecan cookie and it was great.Heads up, this is a pretty decent sized cookie.Having a cold brew on the side was good to balance the sweetness of the cookie.

I love this place.Normally the lines are not bad.Many cupcakes to choose from.Vegan options are a plus.The price is reasonable and each bag contains a cute cupcake sticker.
