1. Roxanne Cafe
Family-owned cafe serving homemade recipes since 1996

My friend and I recently visited Roxanne's, a restaurant located near bustling Union Square on Powell Street, on Sunday, 12/24/23. We were quickly seated, served, and impressed by the quick and friendly service from our waitress. The food served was delicious and satisfying, making for a delightful dining experience.
However, I was surprised to learn about Roxanne's health code rating, which seemed contradictory to the clean appearance of the establishment. I live very close to Roxanne's and frequently eat there, considering the proximity to my home. Although the food is tasty, I believe the prices are slightly inflated by a few dollars, given the portion sizes and quality. The restaurant's location may contribute to the inconsistent quality of service and higher prices, as it caters to a constant stream of tourists who may not be as discerning. Nevertheless, Roxanne's does offer some good burgers and has two separate menus, one for breakfast and another for lunch and dinner. Despite these positive aspects, with so many excellent dining options available throughout the city, I only visit Roxanne's when I do not feel like venturing too far from home.

11. ONE65 San Francisco
Elegant three-story venue with a French bakery and wine bar

On our last day in San Francisco, we decided to have brunch at ONE65, based on the recommendation of a sales assistant at Louis Vuitton. We opted for Salmon Benedict, coffee, and hot chocolate. Our meal was delightful, and the Salmon Benedict stood out for its fresh and tasty ingredients. The coffee and hot chocolate were also satisfying, making our brunch a memorable experience.
During our visit to ONE65, we tried their ham and cheese croissant and shared a black currant croissant. Both croissants were exceptional, with the ham and cheese being a standout for its great flavor, a super-flaky texture that melted in our mouths, and the black currant croissant for its perfect pastry and excellent chocolate and black currant filling. It was evident that a meticulous pastry chef was creating these masterpieces. The service we received was also excellent, contributing to an overall positive experience.
