2. Candy Land
Established 1971, family-owned, award-winning chocolates.

Candy Land is a typical candy store with a wide variety of sweets to choose from. However, the aggressive promotion of beverages can be a turn-off for some customers who simply want to purchase candy. It can be frustrating to be asked unnecessary questions about drinks when all one wants is to buy candy.
On the other hand, the store has a lot of positive aspects. The owner is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about their products. They offer an impressive selection of candies, making it one of the best candy stores in the Dallas area. The variety of sweets available is overwhelming in a good way, and customers are sure to find something they like.
3. Kokopelli Sweets
Artisanal sweets made in-store, perfect for gifts or personal indulgence

The Springhill Suites hotel offered limited options for nearby coffee shops, leading the author to discover Kokopelli Sweets. At first glance, Kokopelli Sweets appeared to be just a confectionery, but it also served coffee and had a great selection of candies.
During research on gluten-free options, the author stumbled upon Kokopelli Sweets, which exceeded expectations. The shop was described as cute, offering old-time and classic candy, fancy chocolates, fancy cakes, coffee, and gelato, among other options. The author's sampling of loose chocolates, chocolate gummy bears, and gelato were all highly satisfying, and a return visit is eagerly anticipated.

6. See's Candies
Over 100 years of candy-making tradition

The chocolate at this store is absolutely delicious, with toffee bites that are irresistible and will destroy any diet plans. The staff is always welcoming, greeting customers upon entry and offering samples. Growing up, the author's father was an executive at Russell Stover, bringing home various candies for years. However, the author did not eat candy at that time. It wasn't until 2023 that sweets became the author's number one vice, and it was easy for the Sees lady to convince the author to purchase some.
In just 10 minutes and after buying a couple of boxes, the author left the store with a second free sample in hand. The chocolate from this store is so good that it is worth breaking any diet for. The staff's friendly demeanor and the offering of samples make the experience even more enjoyable. The author's childhood experience with candies and sweets did not compare to the level of enjoyment found in this store's chocolate. The toffee bites, in particular, are a standout, and it is no surprise that they can destroy any diet plan.

9. Deep Ellum Candy Company
Family-owned business since 2007

The reviewer had visited Truth & Alibi in Dallas, TX twice before and had great experiences. However, their third visit on August 18th around 1 am turned unpleasant. Two bouncers approached the reviewer and their two friends, stating they were in the way and needed to leave. Confused, the reviewer asked for a reason, but the bouncers refused to provide one and threatened to forcibly remove them if they didn't leave willingly. Once outside, the reviewer spoke with the manager, who said they were being kicked out because they were not buying drinks.
The reviewer was upset and felt racially targeted since they were three male individuals of color, whereas other people without drinks were not removed from the club. The manager, named Zane, did not provide a clear announcement about removing patrons who weren't purchasing drinks at the entrance. The reviewer hopes that people will consider this information and make their own conclusions before visiting Truth & Alibi.
