Luckys is a great breakfast spot, offering both classic and unique options on their menu. I recently visited and was impressed by the quality of the food and service. The atmosphere is relaxed and the waitstaff are friendly. I discovered this place unintentionally while driving by, and I regret not visiting sooner.
During a Sunday brunch, my family and a friend decided to try Luckys on a whim. We were delighted to discover the excellent food and service. The menu offers a variety of breakfast options, from simple classics to unique dishes that will entice you to return for more. The portion sizes are generous, and the food is delicious. The writer is from Venezuela and recommends trying the traditional dishes, particularly the pabellon and cachitos, which they describe as "divinity." However, they had a negative experience with the food's greasiness and the quality of service at the establishment where they tried these dishes.

5. State & Allen
Spacious patio, dog-friendly, and live music on weekends

The first location, one of the 15 best brunch places, provided an average dining experience. The chicken and waffles and SA Benedict were just okay, but the SA Omelet was a highlight. The bloody Marys were unremarkable, featuring only Zing Zang and vodka. However, the service was commendable. Despite the average food, the restaurant's atmosphere might be more suitable for an afternoon lunch or a casual gathering with friends.
As an alternative, I recommend State and Allen for a satisfying meal and a relaxed ambiance. Ideal for watching a game alone or with friends, this establishment gives off a definite bar scene vibe. The Cesar salad and lamb meatballs starters were excellent, while the Beef Tips and Roasted Salmon entrees stood out, particularly the Beef Tips. The primary area for improvement at State and Allen is their service.

Known for their lively and fun brunch atmosphere

The brunch experience was excellent with phenomenal and prompt service. The modern atmosphere of the place was aesthetically pleasing, making the meal even more enjoyable. The breakfast burrito was a standout dish, packed with a variety of fillings and sauce. The side of toppings and potatoes were well-seasoned, adding an extra layer of flavor to the meal. The short stack of pancakes was another hit, served in large portions and perfectly fluffy and soft. A side of butter accompanied the pancakes, adding a creamy touch to the dish.

8. Parigi Restaurant
Offers weekend brunch, dog-friendly patio, located in Oak Lawn area

Parigi, located on Oak Lawn Ave, has been a beloved restaurant of mine for over 40 years, with many fond memories created there through meals with friends and family. Through all the owners, current owner Janice has done an exceptional job of maintaining the restaurant's quality and even improving it, while her friendly and attentive staff always provide excellent service.
During my first visit to Parigi, I was impressed by the restaurant's hip vibe and eclectic artwork. Despite the challenge of finding parking in the neighborhood, I was able to find a spot very close to the restaurant. The artwork inside the restaurant added to the engaging atmosphere, making my first experience at Parigi a positive one. I would highly recommend giving it a try.
