7. Kibatsu in Lower Haight
Japanese comfort food in the heart of San Francisco, Attentive and friendly service

Kibatsu is a casual sushi restaurant located in San Francisco's Lower Haight neighborhood. They offer a variety of Japanese seafood dishes, including battered and fried fish, nigiri, and sashimi. The battered fish is a heavier option, but still a fun and shareable dish, especially for larger groups. However, if you're dining with just a few people, it's recommended to stick with the nigiri and sashimi, as they are of higher quality.
I recently had the pleasure of trying Kibatsu's dinner menu and was extremely impressed. The selection of seafood is excellent, and I would highly recommend trying their omakase option, which allows the chef to curate a personalized tasting experience for you. During my meal, we were taken on a culinary journey through the Tsukiji Fish Market (now Toyosu Fish Market), featuring a variety of fish such as Akamustsu, Kamsu, Mirugai, Iwana, Suzuki, Shima Aji, Kasugodai, Sanma, and Gindara. In addition to their impressive seafood offering, Kibatsu also has a nice sake selection and a stylish, modern decor. It's a must-visit spot in the Lower Haight and I recommend checking it out before it becomes too popular and seating becomes scarce.
