1. No-Comply Skateshop
Strong focus on skateboarding culture and community

This location is widely regarded as one of the best places to visit, with my personal experience spanning over ten visits. The shop's expertise and offerings have consistently solidified its position as the premier skate shop in Austin, Texas.
The shop's impressive selection of skate products, including decks, trucks, wheels, and grips, is bolstered by its knowledgeable staff. They offer a welcoming and inclusive environment, making it easy for customers to seek advice or recommendations. The shop's commitment to providing high-quality skate gear, coupled with their dedication to fostering a supportive skate community, truly sets them apart.
2. Apparition Skateboards
Strong focus on skateboarding culture

Troy's skate shop has a knowledgeable staff that can provide the ideal gear for skaters of all levels, from beginners to pros. They offer the latest and highest quality equipment to meet the needs of their customers. The atmosphere of the shop is friendly and welcoming, making it a great place to visit for any skating enthusiast.
During a recent visit to the shop, the staff went above and beyond to help a customer change their mountainboard into a longboard. Their willingness to take the time to ensure the job was done right is a testament to the shop's commitment to customer service. The staff's expertise and friendly demeanor make Troy's skate shop a standout choice for anyone in need of skating equipment or advice.
3. Medusa Skates
Strong focus on promoting skateboarding culture

The staff at the skate shop are extremely friendly and helpful. They offer nice prices and have a good selection of skates to choose from. One visitor was so excited about their new skates that they couldn't wait to start falling on them.
Another customer recently installed new bushings on their skates and was impressed with the store's extensive range of gear and accessories. They drove all the way from San Antonio to visit the shop and plan to return in the future.
5. Cedar Park Skateboarding

6. Zumiez
Strong ties to action sports culture

Zumiez, a popular action sports retailer, is often criticized due to the lack of product knowledge possessed by many of its employees, particularly when it comes to skateboards. This issue can lead to confusion and frustration for customers seeking specific skateboard parts, as the staff may struggle to provide accurate information and assistance.
7. Zumiez
Strong youth culture brand identity

Previous Experience: During my last visit on 1/19/2019, the staff was helpful, but there were some hiccups. They were almost going to let me overpay for a sale item, and their sales pitch was a bit pushy. However, I appreciate their assistance overall.
8. Playland Skate Center
Family-friendly atmosphere and birthday party packages

A birthday party was held at the only skating rink in town, but the experience was negatively impacted by poor customer service from a manager. The full amount for the party room was required to be prepaid online in advance, which was frustrating since the party goer wanted to cancel the party due to the manager's behavior. It is recommended to take your business elsewhere for better service.
The skating rink has some issues that need to be addressed. There is a non-functioning water fountain, and the air conditioning is not sufficient to cool down skaters. Additionally, outside drinks are not allowed, and they charge $4 per drink. It is suggested that they consider lowering the entrance fee and increasing the drink price to make it more fair for customers, especially if their children are skating and becoming thirsty.
9. Sun & Ski Sports
Expert ski and snowboard tuning services

Austin Sun & Ski employs certified technicians with extensive experience in repairing and tuning ski, snowboard, bike, and skate equipment. They are capable of handling any repair job, from basic maintenance to intricate major overhauls. Their expertise even extends to constructing custom skis, snowboards, bikes, and skates from scratch.
Visitors to Austin Sun & Ski can trust their equipment to skilled professionals. The technicians can handle a wide range of services, such as mounting bindings, repairing broken parts, and adjusting components for optimal performance. Whether a customer needs a basic tune-up or a complete custom build, Austin Sun & Ski has the knowledge and skills to deliver exceptional results.

I had a great experience purchasing an Aventon cargo bike from this store. They are knowledgeable about city e-bike rebates, which makes the application process smooth. Although someone criticized them for not having a traditional skate shop vibe, their selection of electric boards is excellent.
Electric Surf Co. is not a conventional skate shop, but they offer an impressive range of electric skateboards. Their staff is knowledgeable and helped me find the perfect board that suited my needs.
