1. Katz's
Open since 1979, only deli in Houston that smokes its own pastrami.

Katz's, a well-known institution in Texas, has been serving customers for four decades and has gained a reputation for being open 24 hours a day, giving rise to the slogan "Katz's Never Kloses." Despite its long-standing history, the quality of the food has become a subject of concern for some customers. Complaints include small portions and a noticeable lack of flavor. However, there is a consensus that the desserts are a highlight and worth trying.
In terms of service, Katz's employees are generally viewed as friendly, efficient, and professional. Nevertheless, there have been some reports of slow service, which may be due to the restaurant's constant busy schedule. Overall, while there are some areas for improvement, Katz's continues to be a popular destination for those seeking a dining experience that is both efficient and professional, with delicious desserts being a standout feature.

2. Traveler's Table in Montrose
Live music on weekends, extensive wine list, happy hour specials

The atmosphere at this establishment is both cozy and vibrant. For my initial beverage, I opted for the Spice Trader, which I found to be quite enjoyable. Its robust flavor profile makes it a suitable choice for a pre-dinner drink, helping to stimulate the palate. It serves as a great starting point to ease into the rest of the evening.
However, as the staffing situation improves or the pace of diners slows down, this issue is expected to dissipate.

3. Snooze, an A.M. Eatery
Uses locally sourced and organic ingredients, homemade syrups, and creative twists on classic dishes

Diners frequently express their appreciation for the distinctive menu items and hospitable service at this establishment. However, some guests have noted that wait times can be lengthy, particularly on weekends. To avoid long waits, it's recommended to arrive before 9:30 am, as by 10 am there can be a significant wait for both indoor and outdoor seating.
Despite the occasional extended wait times, customers generally report positive experiences with the food and unique menu offerings at this dining spot. The popularity and limited seating availability contribute to the wait times, especially during peak hours. To minimize waiting, guests are encouraged to arrive early in the morning.

4. Barnaby's Cafe in Montrose
Featuring local art, diverse menu, and regular live music events.

Barnaby's, an offbeat establishment, is famous for its memorable burgers made from half a pound of organic ground beef, hand-formed and griddled on a flat grill. The burger is served on a grainy bun with a variety of toppings; standout options include the classic cheddar cheeseburger with thick-sliced bacon and the bleu cheese and bacon burger. Barnaby's fries are legendary, seasoned with a mix that is reportedly highly addictive.
This Montrose eatery is known for serving outstanding burgers, large entrees, and huge salads in a homey yet stylish setting. The original location is superior to the newer, more upscale locations and offers a very gay-friendly atmosphere that may be uncomfortable for some. Barnaby's offers a dining experience comparable to Chili's, but with higher quality food that may cause infrequent Chili's visitors to reconsider their dining choices.

The breakfast burrito is a delicious option, especially with the added jalapeños and sauce on the side. The matching of the flavors and the spice of the jalapeños creates a fantastic taste. The price and the amount of food provided in the meal are also satisfying.
The decor of the place is aesthetically pleasing, creating a welcoming and enjoyable ambiance. The versatile environment makes it easy to have a good time with friends, maybe even with mimosas, or to get some work done alone. The ambiance is perfect for any occasion.

93' Til is a delightful neighborhood restaurant that offers a charming dining experience. The patio is particularly appealing, offering a relaxing atmosphere for guests. The staff is commended for their excellent communication and top-notch service. On a recent visit, I was able to enjoy a delicious beet salad with pickled okra, pistachios, and dill, as well as a tasty chicken sandwich with slaw and pickles. The food was very fresh and flavorful.
I appreciate that 93' Til was open on Easter Sunday, providing a last-minute dining option for my family. Located near Memorial parks Eastern Glades and land bridge, the restaurant was a convenient choice after a walk in the park. Barnaby's, located nearby, is a breakfast paradise that caters to both vegetarians and meat-lovers alike. The breakfast plate is a must-try, featuring perfectly cooked eggs, delicious potatoes, and crispy bacon. Pricing is affordable, and the service is commendable, making Barnaby's a top-notch breakfast spot.
At Barnaby's, the eggs in the breakfast plate stand out due to their lighter butter content compared to other establishments. The potatoes are also a highlight, packed with flavor and well-seasoned. 10. Cuchara
Contemporary Mexican cuisine in a cozy, art-filled setting

Cuchara, located on 214 Fairview Street in Houston, Texas, is a vibrant and cozy bar, restaurant, and watering hole known for its Mexican cuisine and craft cocktails. The restaurant has received a high star rating, but unfortunately, my recent dining experience did not live up to the hype.
I found the food to be mediocre at best, with the creamed corn side dish appearing to be from a can and the main meals lacking in authentic flavor. Although I am not opposed to paying a decent price for a decent meal, I was left feeling unimpressed with the quality of the food I received. On the other hand, the restaurant's atmosphere is undeniably welcoming and cozy, making it an ideal spot to grab a drink and enjoy a night out.

Hugo's offers an unexpected and delightful Mexican dining experience, showcasing a wide range of flavors and tastes in every dish. The service and ambience are commendable, but it's the inventive cuisine that truly sets it apart. Each plate is a testament to the care and craft put into creating a memorable experience for diners.
Valet parking is a necessity when visiting Hugo's, adding a touch of convenience to the overall experience. While the restaurant excels in many areas, it's the food that leaves a lasting impression. With every bite, diners can enjoy a medley of flavors and textures, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a unique and satisfying meal.

12. Nobie's
Offers a daily-changing menu using locally sourced ingredients

My son took my wife and me to Nobie's for an evening dinner. He raved about the food, and while I was skeptical at first, I ended up being thoroughly impressed. From the outside, Nobie's didn't look like much, but once we were seated and had a chance to look over the menu, I knew we were in for a treat. We started with the "winner winner chicken dinner" and dilly bread, which were both delicious.
My wife and I returned to Nobie's for the grand opening after meeting the owner and chef, Martin, at Coltivare. We were delighted with each item we tried, from the subtle flavors of the oysters to the brisket and mole sauce-wrapped dates, which were reminiscent of chocolate-covered bacon. The steak tartare with deviled egg and Sarah's amazing cocktails were also standouts. We enjoyed the carrot avocado salad and Brussels sprouts, but by the time the main courses arrived, we were already getting full from all the amazing food. We will definitely be back to try even more of Nobie's delicious offerings.

My experience at Bludorn was nothing short of amazing. The food, cocktails, and service were all phenomenal. In particular, the octopus appetizer stood out as one of the best I've ever had. The cocktails were well-balanced and delicious, providing an excellent complement to the food. However, what truly made the experience special was the exceptional service.
