4. Cioppino's
Family-owned since 1990, serving authentic Italian coastal cuisine

The signature Cioppino at this restaurant is worth trying, as it has received positive reviews. The stew features a flavorful base and an abundance of seafood that is comparable to or even better than what you might find at other restaurants along the Wharf. However, the portion may be somewhat overwhelming.

The staff at Brick & Beam are commendable for their exceptional and helpful service. Among them, bartender Rick deserves a special mention for making the visit enjoyable. The restaurant offers a diverse menu, although the experience may include both positive and negative aspects.
For instance, the Grilled Chicken Melt is a standout dish, showcasing a delicious blend of a well-prepared chicken breast, crispy bacon, avocado, and pesto. Unfortunately, the fried chicken and fish options seem to be excessively oily. 18. Eagle Cafe in Fisherman's Wharf
Historic waterfront location since 1928, offers both indoor and outdoor seating with stunning views of the Bay and sea lions.

The Eagle Cafe in San Francisco, as recommended by our Lonely Planet Encounters guide book, offered good value for money and a great atmosphere with partial water views. We enjoyed the garlic fries, which were well-described in the guide book and had no complaints about them. However, other dishes were less impressive. The crab benedict was just mediocre, despite the freshness and quality of the crab. The hollandaise sauce could use improvement. Sadly, the huevos rancheros also fell short of our expectations, and we would not recommend it.
Our lunch at The Eagle Cafe in San Francisco was a mixed experience. We chose the cafe based on a recommendation from our Lonely Planet Encounters guide book, and the garlic fries we ordered were excellent. The cafe had a great atmosphere with nice water views. However, some dishes were disappointing. Although the crab used in the crab benedict was fresh and tasty, the hollandaise sauce let it down, making the overall dish just average. Unfortunately, the huevos rancheros were equally unimpressive.

19. Capurro's Restaurant
Historic location, family-owned, known for fresh ingredients

The restaurant offers a suitable atmosphere for both casual and formal dining, though it seems particularly set up for romantic, candlelit dinners. The menu focuses on basic American dishes, with an emphasis on Italian cuisine. This combination likely caters well to tourists who may be unfamiliar with more adventurous culinary options.
During my lunch visit, I found the service to be consistently pleasant and efficient. The food I sampled was decent and met expectations, but did not deliver a striking or exceptional experience. While the menu features standard American fare and Italian-inspired dishes, one should not expect to be wowed by uniquely innovative or daring culinary creations.

20. Hollywood Cafe
Unique Hollywood-themed decor and memorabilia

The quality of breakfast and lunch spots can be subjective, but Hollywood Cafe in San Francisco is a hidden gem worth visiting. Unlike Mama's, which is often crowded for breakfast, Hollywood Cafe has fewer local patrons, likely due to its tourist-centric location. However, this does not reflect its quality; the cafe offers a filling and reasonably priced breakfast, including a satisfying three-egg omelet.
During a stay at the Hyatt Centric in San Francisco, the hotel breakfast became too expensive for the husband and themselves. Across the street, they found Hollywood Cafe, which seemed popular with customers. Open only for breakfast and lunch until 1:30 PM, they tried it for lunch and were not disappointed. The cafe offers breakfast all day, and one of their recommendations is trying the caperberry jam, which is delicious.

21. Tanguito
Authentic Argentinian cuisine in a vibrant atmosphere

The choripán, garlic fries, and all the dishes tried at this establishment received high praise for their taste and quality. However, the beef empanada was found to be dry and lacked sufficient flavor, calling for more chimichurri sauce to enhance its taste. The service was commendable, with fast and made-to-order food preparation.
The food offered is impressive, with a variety of dishes that proved to be delicious and excellent value for money. The establishment served empanadas, beef salad, chicken salad, beef sandwich, and choripan, all receiving positive feedback for their taste. The portions were generously sized, adding to the overall satisfaction of the meal.
