The class costs $130 and runs for five weeks, with each session lasting three hours. Additionally, students are granted access to the studio and materials during the establishment's numerous open studio hours.
I am currently participating in this class and have been taking advantage of the extra studio time available to students. This extra time allows me to work on my projects and practice the skills I am learning in class.

A woman began teaching art classes for local kids in her basement, eventually expanding to a $10 million building 14 years later. The building, encompassing 40,000 square feet, is an impressive space that hosts a variety of craft classes for children. Knowledgeable instructors lead the classes, providing excellent guidance for the students.
Despite living nearby, I don't visit often due to its location being out of my way and not having children myself. Nonetheless, the community engagement aspect of the establishment is commendable, offering a variety of arts and crafts classes. Despite being a bit distant from my usual path, it is worth recognizing the value it brings to the community and the positive impact it has on local children.

The studio was originally founded in 1979, converted to a combination studio and gallery in 1983 and moved to its current location in West Town in 2022. Its facilities feature two electric kilns, eleven electric potter's wheels, a slab roller , a clay machine. extruder, and a wide variety of glazes and tools. Creative Claythings is first and foremost a teaching studio, which means it's a great place to come, whether you're a complete beginner or an enthusiastic amateur ceramics fan looking to learn new skills and techniques. They divide their classes, which combine wheel throwing and hand building, into four skill levels: beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate and advanced. Their pottery classes tend to be more affordable than other Chicago pottery studios, which is always a plus! Creative Claythings prides itself on creating a warm, intimate and friendly environment for its students. Your class sizes are limited to eleven students, so you're sure to receive plenty of specialized attention from your instructor. They're a great bonding activity to book with friends, but due to the small class sizes, they're also a great place to meet new people! However, if you are a dedicated ceramic artist looking for an open studio space, unfortunately, due to Creative Claythings' exclusive focus on teaching, they do not offer open studio spaces. Finally, if you plan to drive to the studio, there is plenty of street parking available nearby. However, it is not very close to any bus or L stops, which makes it a little more difficult to access the studio by public transportation. Another activity to highlight is the wreath-making class, which proved to be an enjoyable experience. The Michaels staff generously supplied all necessary materials and walked us through each stage of the process, making it easy and fun. I certainly plan to attend more classes in the future.

Penguin's beginner pottery clinic is a wonderful experience. The studio is spacious, allowing for plenty of room to work. The large group format is both relaxed and engaging, with a balance of group instruction and individual time to create.
I have been taking classes and making pottery at Penguin for about a year now. The teachers and staff are exceptional, providing valuable guidance and support. Through their instruction, I have learned to create some really cool and unique pieces of pottery.
