9. Fig. 19
Delicious authentic Italian cuisine and charming decor

To get to Fig. 19 (short for Figure 19 like in science books), you have to walk through an art gallery above the popular underground dance venue Home Sweet Home and open the door at the back. Once inside, you feel at home. This is because Fig. 19 was first created by the owners of Home Sweet Home as a clubhouse for them and the staff to hang out. As such, Fig. 19 has managed to keep the New York City crowds away by staying laid-back and true to its roots, with art curated by the owners' friends and craft cocktails that change slightly seasonally. The entire interior is decorated with the warmth and comfort of a New York City apartment lounge, with the building's original wood-plank flooring and exposed brick walls. 11. Weather Up
Handmade pasta and brick-oven pizzas

Richard Boccato (Dutch Kills) helms a well-balanced cocktail list that includes a mix of classics, like the Revolver, which softens the flavor of bourbon with coffee liqueur and orange bitters, and original shots. Of the latter, we liked the pleasantly bitter Kensington Fix, made with Plymouth gin, simple syrup and earthy Amaro CioCiaro. Pair the drink with smart snacks from Tyler Kord (No. 7), like luxurious oyster platters or baskets of great home fries. While prices are high, there is plenty of polish to be found here, right down to the immaculate ice that is harvested and cut on site.
