1. Littleneck
Seasonal ingredients, nautical-themed decor

Address: 128 Franklin Street Littleneck Outpost is the cafe version of its sister restaurant, Littleneck, in Gowanus (one of the best restaurants in Gowanus, I might add), which means it will be a great brunch spot in Greenpoint. Like every other Greenpoint brunch spot on this list, the space is charming and minimalist, with white walls and a small grocery store next door where you can pick up essentials. They also have excellent La Colombe coffee served all day and delicious cakes. For the tastiest ones, basically any of the eggs are amazing, but I always tend to go for the avocado and eggs, mainly in part because of the green chilies that come with it. The egg and cheese is amazing too, as is the potato and egg which comes with homemade pistachio butter + strawberry yuzu jam. Littleneck Outpost is open daily for breakfast. They don't take reservations but offer both indoor and outdoor dining. Note: they do not serve alcohol either.

2. Twist
Family-owned restaurant serving authentic Mediterranean cuisine

Chief among its indulgent delights is the gloriously named "pernil con un twist": juicy roasted pork shoulder, soft ripe plantains, grilled onions and mayonnaise, all combined with a chili-like green sauce (commonly known as "crack" for regular customers) that filters through the entire package. Be sure to ask for additional sauce on the side, as the jalapeño punch helps cut through the sweet and salty combination of pernil and plantains. Also, do some lunchtime arbitrage by skipping the 44th Street location in favor of the Lexington Avenue location, where the price is strangely cheaper.—Chris Schonberger
