4. National Mechanics Bar and Restaurant
Garage-themed setting with vintage cars, full bar, and outdoor seating

A group of us recently visited National Mechanics in Philadelphia after exploring a museum. We were promptly seated by a friendly hostess and served delicious food. Our orders included a veggie burger, National burger, fish and chips, and a custom-made egg scramble with three kinds of cheese and bacon. The egg scramble was exceptional, the best I've ever had. For beverages, they offered a make-your-own Bloody Mary bar.
National Mechanics has been on my must-visit list for a while, and it did not disappoint. The establishment, a former bank in Philadelphia's historic district, is now a cozy pub with brick walls and a weekly trivia night. They still serve beer by the pitcher, with a reasonable price for local Yards IPA. I tried a spicy roast pork sandwich with spinach and provolone on a crusty roll, while my family enjoyed fish and chips and a turkey and avocado burger.
