5. Teuscher Chocolate
Handmade chocolates, family-owned business since 1932

I had a tradition of exchanging gifts with my Swiss friend who lived in Zurich. I would send her a box of Taiwanese instant noodles, and in return, she would send me a box of champagne truffles from Switzerland. The truffles were always a highlight for me, as they were a luxury I wouldn't normally buy for myself. The box they came in was always a beautiful verdant green, and it was always carefully packaged to ensure that the truffles inside arrived in perfect condition.
The champagne truffles were a true delicacy, and I loved the unique taste and texture that came from the combination of chocolate and champagne. The truffles were quite expensive, with a 6" x 6" x 1" box costing $56, but they were worth every penny. The truffles were a small but meaningful way for my friend and I to stay connected, despite the distance between us. The tradition of exchanging gifts allowed us to share a piece of our respective cultures with each other, and it added a sense of excitement and anticipation to our friendship.

9. See's Candies
Hand-made chocolates, Unique flavors, Family-owned business
See's lollypops have been a beloved treat for me since I was a young girl. As I grew older, I developed a preference for their Almond Royal and other delectable treats. Although not artisan chocolate, See's chocolate is undeniably delicious. During a recent visit, we intended to purchase five pieces of chocolate but ended up with double that amount, thanks to the generous employee who provided us with free sample after free sample.
What makes the experience even better is that See's Candies is not located in a shopping center or mall, but rather stands alone on Clement Street. This adds to the charm and appeal of the store, making it a delightful surprise for customers.

13. It'Sugar
Chocolate-themed gifts, unique chocolate creations, vibrant and colorful decor

IT'SUGAR, a popular candy store, has recently opened a new location at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. The store offers a wide variety of unique and fun candies, including a 5-pound gummy bear, giant gummy worm, Hello Kitty merchandise, and a 2-pound Rice Krispy snack. The store also sells candy cigarettes, candy dots, plushes, and pillows. Additionally, they offer name-brand candy by the quarter pound or pound, as well as string candy bra and panties.
The new IT'SUGAR location in San Francisco features an extensive candy department store, the largest one ever. This new store, which opened on March 31, 2023, has special sections for retro favorites, international sweets, and TikTok-inspired candies. Visitors can take fun photos at the SF-themed Lollipop Garden and a giant faux gumball wall. Although the prices are higher than usual, many items make great gift ideas. The staff is friendly, trying hard to maintain the store while kids (of all ages) explore and play with the displays. During the visit, nothing was purchased, but the overall experience was fun.

Jade Chocolates in Chinatown is a must-visit for chocolate lovers, with a variety of unique and delicious flavors. However, the service at this establishment is less than satisfactory, with uninterested servers and a disconnected owner. Despite the poor service, the location and selection of drinks and snacks, particularly the chocolates, make it a place worth visiting.
The chocolates at Jade Chocolates are a standout, with flavors such as cherry lemonade and calamansi that are truly delicious. The quality of the chocolate and the creativity in flavor combinations make it a must-try for anyone who loves chocolate. Although the service was lackluster during my visits, the quality of the chocolates alone makes it a place I would recommend to others and consider visiting again in the future.
