3. Bestia in Downtown Los Angeles
Industrial-chic setting with a spacious patio, extensive wine list, happy hour specials

Chatter and hip-hop music fill the industrial-chic dining room of Bestia, a popular restaurant in LA, long after last call. The knowledgeable staff guides customers through the menu with a level of skill similar to luxury concierges. Table conversations, double dates, and birthday celebrations create a lively atmosphere as groups clink wine glasses and enjoy elaborate salumi boards.
Bestia is known for its great ambiance, service, and high price point. The chorizo and mussels, as well as the pizza, have received high praise for their delicious flavors. However, not all dishes meet the high expectations set by the restaurant. Two pasta dishes and a fish dish were deemed merely good, rather than great, taking away from the overall dining experience. Despite the high prices, customers are willing to pay for great food, but they expect to receive consistent quality and flavor in every dish they order.

5. Bavel
Hip atmosphere with a lively bar scene

The food at Bavel is truly exceptional. The hummus, in particular, is incredibly delicious and was almost enough to bring tears to the taster's eyes. They were even kind enough to order a Lyft for their fiancé so that she could come and try it for herself. Unfortunately, the taster finished the first hummus dish all by themselves, but they made sure to save some of the duck hummus for their fiancé (thanks to Ricky). The duck hummus was a hit, and the taster's fiancé loved it.
Bavel is a must-visit restaurant for anyone who loves delicious, high-quality food. The service is top-notch, and the ambiance is both casual and chic. Guests recommend arriving early to try the squash blossom, and the sommelier is knowledgeable and can guide you through different wine options. The hummus is simply to-die-for, and the grilled prawns are a must-try. It's the perfect place for a special occasion, such as a birthday dinner. The taster was on their way to get sushi from Kula, but they are so glad they found this amazing place instead. They can't wait to return!

6. District
Unique dining experiences, Modern and trendy atmosphere, Supports local and sustainable food practices

Upon entering the restaurant, a noticeable 'Smokey' scent from cocktail preparation using smoke permeates the air. This initial smell is soon overtaken by a strong incense aroma, which, although almost overwhelming, dissipates once you are seated. The food offerings were mediocre, with the side salad appearing unappetizing, as if it had been purchased pre-packaged from a grocery store.
The restaurant layout and ambiance were enjoyable, contributing to a positive dining experience. The service was excellent, with my server, who I believe was named Jonathan, providing friendly and attentive service. His warm demeanor and welcoming smile made my lunch experience enjoyable, and I am looking forward to returning for another meal.

Hip location in Downtown LA, housed in a classic Art Deco building

The lobby bar, situated in a luxurious hotel, spans across the entire four-story lobby with striking high-end lighting and grand chandeliers. It's an excellent place to enjoy late-night drinks and food. My first experience at this bar happened to coincide with a LA King's game, and I was fortunate enough to witness some of the players walk in to the jubilant cheers of the patrons.
Seated at the bar, I was pleased to find a somewhat extensive menu. I opted for the Branzino, which is not a regular item on their menu, but it proved to be an excellent choice as it was skillfully prepared and delicious. I also enjoyed tequila on the rocks, which were up to par with my expectations. Additionally, the Asian-style chicken wings were cooked to perfection, making for a satisfying appetizer to end the night on a high note.
