Despite having a positive experience with the restaurant's food and service at a different location in Mesa, the author's recent visit to the Prescott location was not as enjoyable. The taco they ordered did not meet their expectations, leading them to wish to try it again when they are in Mesa in January. Nonetheless, the restaurant's reputation for excellent food and service remains, and the author is open to giving it another chance.

6. Torchy's Tacos
Fresh ingredients, daily hand-made tortillas

Torchy's Tacos is a popular dining destination, recognized for its delicious food and uniquely sized tacos that are larger than typical street tacos. The service is usually speedy, although there may be occasional delays during less busy periods. The restaurant offers a wide variety of taco options, including one that I ordered, which I had mistakenly assumed would be a fajita. However, it turned out to be a regular taco filled with fajita ingredients, which was still enjoyable but not quite up to par with the other fast food-style tacos available.
To expand, Torchy's Tacos' offerings are generally well-received due to their distinctive size and taste. The restaurant's service often demonstrates efficiency, but there can be occasional lags during slower periods. On my visit, I tried what I believed to be a fajita, but it turned out to be a standard taco filled with fajita ingredients. 8. GORDITAS EL TIO
Family-owned and operated business since 1997

On Sunday around 3pm, the restaurant was filled with customers, indicating its popularity. I tried Sopes e Carnitas, Shrimp Cocktail, and a Torta Milanesa. The Sopes and Shrimp Cocktail stood out and exceeded my expectations, but the Torta Milanesa fell short. The bread was stale, the fried steak lacked flavor, and its thinness made it unappealing. Although I found the Torta to be edible, it's clear that it's not their specialty.
I also ordered five tacos, including carnitas and asada. Unfortunately, the carnitas and asada were not distinguishable, and the green salsa was just average. The interior design was simple and clean, nothing memorable or unique. For my next visit, I plan to combine the meat and tacos from the neighboring birria place with the green salsa from this restaurant, creating a more satisfying meal overall.

9. Filiberto's Mexican Food
Authentic Mexican recipes, family-owned restaurant

The Chicken Taco was a tasty dish, but its spiciness was a bit overpowering for some. The taco featured chicken as the main ingredient, which was cooked well and had a good texture. However, the spices used in the dish were too strong, overpowering the taste of the chicken and causing discomfort to those who are not fond of spicy food.
On the other hand, the Carne Asada Taco was a hit. The dish featured well-seasoned and flavorful beef, which was the perfect contrast to the fresh and crisp vegetables that topped the taco. The seasoning of the meat was well-balanced, allowing its natural flavor to stand out. The Carne Asada Taco is definitely a must-try for anyone who enjoys tacos, as it showcases the perfect combination of flavors and textures.
