1. Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen
Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, extensive seafood selection

Our group enjoyed a delicious meal consisting of the catfish and shrimp po'boys. The taste was outstanding, and we relished our time eating. The catfish po'boy, in particular, was a standout, featuring blackened Opelous catfish topped with a savory sauce and an assortment of oysters, lump crab, and shrimp.
The po'boys were delightful, but the blackened catfish po'boy was exceptional. It had a wonderful combination of flavors that pleased the palate. The dish consisted of perfectly cooked catfish with a blackened seasoning, complemented by a tasty sauce and piled high with oysters, lump crab, and shrimp. Even now, my taste buds are still grateful for the amazing culinary experience.

2. Hook Line & Sinker
Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, extensive seafood selection

After undergoing chemotherapy treatment at UT Southwestern Medical Center, I stopped by a seafood restaurant on my way home, which is 25 miles away, to pick up a whole catfish meal. I placed my online order at 11:12 AM, and the order details indicated that it would be ready at 11:45 AM. However, it was after 12 PM when the order was brought to my car, resulting in a less than ideal experience.
On the positive side, I must commend the restaurant for serving the best shrimp and catfish combination I have had in years. The hush puppies were also delicious and brought back memories of Zider Zee. The desserts were equally impressive, with the key lime pie being exceptionally good, and I may have discovered one of the best bread puddings I have ever tasted. It had a true custard texture and was outstanding.

3. Flying Fish

The fried catfish served was apparently restricted from food before it was cooked, resulting in a small size. On the other hand, the fried chicken had a suitable size, although it could have been larger. The establishment serves shoestring fries, which are acceptable but not the preferred choice for some. Steak fries would be a better match for the style of food they offer.
The food and atmosphere of the place are excellent, making it a great dining experience. One of the recommended dishes is the Shrimp and Catfish Fillet Basket, which is a favorite among patrons. The restaurant's offerings and ambiance attract customers who enjoy good food and a fun atmosphere.

Tilapia is generally known for its soft and mushy texture. On a positive note, this consistency can be enjoyed in Tilapia dishes on a good day. However, when it comes to fried catfish, the presentation is usually appealing, although this particular observation is based on the appearance rather than personal experience of ordering it.
Moving on to the fried catfish basket, the dish was a delightful experience. The perfectly cooked catfish in the basket was delicious and received a strong recommendation for those who are considering ordering it. The high quality of the fried catfish stands out, making it a memorable dish.

6. Catfish Floyd's

Catfish dishes are a popular choice, with one establishment gaining recognition for its exceptional tartar sauce. It is suggested that this sauce could be successfully marketed on a national scale. The catfish and shrimp basket is recommended for those looking to try a variety of flavors. However, not all experiences with catfish have been positive. Some diners have described the catfish as having a subpar texture, such as being "rubbery" or tasting like "old grease."
While some enjoy the tartar sauce and fries that accompany the catfish, the main attraction has been criticized for its quality. Mixed opinions suggest that although some elements of the meal can be enjoyable, the catfish itself may not meet expectations. Overall, the dining experience seems to vary, with opinions on the catfish being divided.

The new owners of the establishment have failed to meet expectations in terms of food quality and service. The food, particularly the catfish, lacked proper seasoning, which affected its overall taste. The fries were another disappointment, as they were not only overseasoned but also soggy, giving them an unpleasant, mashed potato-like texture.
Grease was a common issue with the food, which was overcooked and prepared in old oil. The combination of excessive grease and poor seasoning resulted in a badly cooked meal that was unenjoyable. The owner of Louisiana Catfish was not wearing a mask, and the cook wore hers improperly, but this did not stop the author from ordering. The meal was disappointing, and the author has decided to avoid the restaurant for a while.
Louisiana Catfish is a no-frills restaurant famous for its tasty two-piece catfish basket, although the price has recently increased without warning. The individual had initially considered requesting a refund for their order, which consisted of 2 piece catfish and fries. The fries were plentiful, but the fish pieces were small, leading them to suspect that they had received a different type of fish. Upon tasting the food, their suspicion was confirmed as it was Swai, not catfish.
However, they did enjoy the taste and crispy texture of the catfish nuggets they received. The portion size was also satisfactory for the price. Despite the service being just average and the disappointment with the fish, the quality of the catfish nuggets was enough to make them consider returning for another visit.

18. TJ Cajun Seafood & Wings
Offers a unique and flavorful Cajun twist on traditional catfish dishes, with a fun and lively atmosphere

The restaurant offers a variety of seafood options, including fried prawns, fried catfish, and fried fish. I had the pleasure of dining there many years ago and was particularly impressed with the delicious and flavorful catfish and shrimp. On a recent visit, however, I was disappointed to find that the same dishes lacked seasoning, with the food tasting like it only had batter and no seasoning added beforehand.
It's a shame that the quality of the food seemed to have declined since my last visit. Despite this, the restaurant still has potential to offer a great seafood dining experience. I would recommend adding back the seasoning to the batter, or offering seasoning on the side, to allow customers to customize the level of flavor to their liking. This way, customers can enjoy the fresh and tasty seafood that the restaurant has to offer.

24. Ronnie's Catfish & More
Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and popular local joint

Ronnie's Restaurant has a love-hate relationship with its customers – while some praise the perfectly fried fish and accurate orders, others complain of undercooked food and missing items. It's recommended to double-check your order before driving off, as they are willing to re-cook any issues. Recently, Ronnie's introduced a new menu with higher prices and implemented a policy that requires customers to dine in, eliminating the option to eat or wait in the lobby. However, the parking lot could use some improvement, as the potholes pose a hazard and there are no safe places to wait.

The individual ordered catfish and was charged $24.95, but upon checking their card, they found that they were charged $29.16. They noted that this included a tip, even though they had not explicitly added one, as the restaurant had a tip jar with a message stating that tips were appreciated but not required. The Mac n cheese that came with the meal was not enjoyable, as it was curdled. However, the fish looked good, was seasoned well, but had a crispy exterior and mushy interior. The customer requested tarter sauce and received pre-made packets, along with a small cup of house sauce. They did not enjoy the house sauce due to their dislike for Buffalo sauce. Despite the owner and service being lovely, the customer was disappointed and does not plan on returning.
On the other hand, this person had a completely different experience, praising the food and service. They were impressed by the real American catfish, which was perfectly seasoned. The individual raved about the taste and size of the burgers. They described them as amazing and huge, giving it a 10 out of 10 rating. The service was top-notch, and they encouraged tipping the cashier, describing her as beautiful inside and out. The customer expressed their intention to return.

27. Catfish & More

The fish at this restaurant is delicious, earning it high praise and positive reviews. This fact alone piqued my interest and convinced me to give it a try. After my first visit, I was not disappointed. The fish left a lasting impression on me with its great taste, which was a major factor in my decision to become a repeat customer.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the fries. Despite the restaurant's excellent food and service, the fries were a major letdown. They were so disappointing that I felt compelled to express my frustration in all caps. Despite this one flaw, the restaurant's other offerings, particularly the fish, make it a place that I would recommend to others.
